The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions – CPMR – represents around 200 million people from more than 150 regions in Europe, campaigning in favour of a more balanced development of the European territory. It operates both as a think tank and as a lobby for these regions, focusing mainly on social, economic and territorial cohesion, maritime policies and blue growth, and accessibility.
To carry out a full rebranding exercise for CPMR, creating a consistent and striking identity that would be implemented through the development of seven new websites.
Following a successful partnership with one of CPMR’s lead research projects – ELIH-Med – Insight was selected to build, design and host the new CPMR website, which had to incorporate autonomous but linked websites for its six separate geographical commissions. The new site and its sub-sites were to be content-rich, presenting an overall view of all CPMR activities and news as a whole, while at the same time presenting content in terms of subject matter and geographical commission links.
The new content structure of the website had to bring together the full range of work being carried out by CPMR’s General Secretariat and its geographical commissions in order to increase the impact its core messages were having with its target audience.
We brought a fresh and contemporary look and feel to the sites. As well as being content rich, all aspects of this website design and build were focused on user experience. Seamless navigation between all levels of content was made possible through integrated web tools, standardised design features and a clear, consistent CPMR corporate identity that runs through all sites.
The sites were all developed using the latest valid HTML5/CSS3 markups and web-friendly protocols of the time. They are all available in a number of languages and were designed with ease of navigation and visual experience in mind. UX/UI (user experience/interface) testing was undertaken throughout the build.
It was extremely important for CPMR that the website was designed with their core audience in mind. To help them reach their audience, we also developed a full communications plan that helped to target relevant European Institutions and member states, CPMR member regions, the media and the general public to raise awareness of the organisation and its members and to direct traffic to the new sites.
